LOCOG Teams Up with UPS to Thrill the World

Video Highlights

  • London 2012 has 36 competition venues and over 100 other venues
  • UPS Logistics is the key to getting millions of items in the right place in each venue

The Biggest Sporting Event in 2012 Requires the Greatest Logistical Feat

For the last two years, UPS has been at the heart of helping the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) prepare for the Games. UPS utilises its global size and capabilities to bring 30 million items of inventory from around the world into London. From basketball and gymnastics flooring to every piece of sports equipment, everything at some point will have moved through the UPS network.

For example, for the Athletes Village, over 500,000 items will arrive and need forklifts and manpower to move each item into place. This entire process is orchestrated by UPS.
