Keeping London and Your Business on Track During Games Time

This summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a tremendous celebration and a once in a lifetime experience for everyone all over the UK. It takes a lot to stage the London 2012 Games - Think about it for a second. Over 14 thousand athletes, over 11 million spectators and 30 million items converging on London and UPS is proud to have the job of managing the entire supply chain. That’s a lot of Logistics and after all we love logistics.

Understandably, immediately leading up to and during ‘games time’ there will be disruption to areas surrounding Olympic venues, training venues and public live sites, along with areas used for on-road events such as marathons, triathlons and cycling events. In order to understand, plan, prepare, and implement solutions to keep our day-to-day business moving around the city we have assembled a dedicated team of experts representing all internal business functions. They have been working closely with key stakeholders for some time and are setting out clear plans as more information is released and finalised. The team is analysing traffic charts, integrating new technology and launching a customer engagement campaign to ensure we are able to maintain our high level of service during the upcoming London 2012 Games.

UPS has a long standing heritage of providing Olympic logistics, including how we continue to operate as normal during games time within a host city. Most recently UPS was the Official Logistics and Express Delivery supporter of the Beijing 2008 Games during which we monitored traffic patterns and determined optimal collection and delivery routes for Olympic and business customers during this period. We continue to build on this valuable experience as we approach the unique challenges that London 2012 presents.

We commit to keeping our customers informed at every opportunity and will continue to release regular updates at key stages.

If you have additional questions or require shipping services to and from the London 2012 Games, please speak to your account representative or send your enquiry through the Contact UPS form on this site.
