UPS Sets Its Sights on London 2012

Preparing for an Olympic Games doesn’t happen overnight. Since 2009 UPS has been working around the clock to help ensure that everything is in place before the start of the 2012 Olympic Games. By the end of 2011, UPS will deliver over 180 full truckloads to Olympic venues  and manage warehousing of more than 250,000 items well before even the first event has taken place.

As the Official Logistics and Express Delivery Supporter of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, UPS will be responsible for warehousing, distribution, venues and village logistics, customs and freight forwarding, small package and special projects before, during and after the Olympic Games. Even now, UPS has more than 90 team members on the ground working to guarantee a flawless start. Our plan is to have over 1,100 people by June 2012 to provide logistics support for what is shaping up to be one of the greatest Olympic Games ever.

To help us tell the story, UPS has enlisted the help of four well-known London 2012 Ambassadors – Ben Ainslie, Louis Smith, Denise Lewis and Steve Rider. These Ambassadors will be instrumental in communicating to the world how a great Olympic Games relies on great logistics. And nobody does logistics quite like UPS.
